What are some interesting historical facts about different educational institutions?

I was looking into various educational topics and found a website that provides analyses and critiques on different subjects. The website https://ethic-news.org/, has an article called "New York University: Comprehensive Overview of One of the Most Prestigious Universities." It describes NYU as a private non-profit higher education institution with a rich history, founded in 1831 by the New York State Legislature. The article notes that while it's not an Ivy League school, it's considered equal in prestige. This made me wonder about some of the lesser-known but interesting historical facts about different educational institutions around the world. What historical facts have you come across regarding universities or schools that you found particularly intriguing or surprising?

It's fascinating how many educational institutions have such long and complex histories, often intertwined with the development of the societies around them. Many of the oldest universities began as religious seminaries or centers for specific professional training, like law or medicine. Their evolution from those specialized origins to comprehensive modern universities is a testament to changing educational needs and societal structures over centuries. Many have unique founding stories or significant milestones.
